Embrace (2019)

Embrace was a project in collaboration with Kelly Rogers that came to through Symbiotic, an annually ran collaborative art series of well established artists and students. It ran from 2016-2019 with new pairings of artists, projects, and shows each year - all the while focusing on community. Embrace was one of the last projects to happen of Symbiotic.
The audience was welcome to step inside the circular enclosure of Embrace - to experience it fully as it encompassed the participant. To touch, to read, to feel.
“Embracing is a blanket, an umbrella of meanings and actions. Embracing is to control or to comfort, to cover or to console. This project, Embrace, is firmly recognizing and acknowledging our circumstances along with fully feeling and deep thinking. This project, Embrace, is a project of process. Processing the layers of what an embrace is and finding a peace within one's self to have that encompassing moment of charity and meditation-being closed to opened, the journey of being comfortable with one another as well as one's self and feeling whole. This project is a manifestation of the streams of thoughts we have and their validity or nonsensical nature... Our conscious and unconscious seeking of sameness, solidarity, and safety. We live different lives, but we're not facing it alone. We're in this dreamscape together. We just need a moment to breathe and take it in.”
